 On March 7, 2008 Buck O'Rielly was in New York City to receive the General Motors' 2007 Dealer of the Year Jack Smith Leadership Award for the first time. This award is given in recognition of his dedication to sales excellence and customer satisfaction. As President of O'Rielly Chevrolet for 45 years Buck's award is an exceptional achievement, presented to only 110 of the over 7,000 GM dealers nationwide. The award is named after retired GM chariman and program founder Jack Smith.
 The Dealer of the Year Awards are the highest honor that General Motors bestows each year. The presentation of the award is a testimony to those dealers who exemplify the drive to achieve what GM seeks in all of its authorized dealers. The award recognizes not only sales performance and customer satisfaction, but on-going operating standards and industry leadership. The prestigious award is a Steuben crystal obelisk which symbolizes the ultimate dealer achievement at General Motors. Rick Wagoner, along with senior company offices, presented the awards at the ceremony held at Gotham Hall.
